Days Before Surgery

45 Days

Its Tuesday we only have 45 official days till surgery!

There are lots of developments today!

So first I called to verify the imaging place received both the Mri Order(Cervical Spine) and the CT Scan(Thoracic Spine). They received them but then I was told that they won’t schedule them till my insurance approves them. This will take a week “if” we can get it approved by then. So I then ask if they had the approval when would I be able to get in. He says well for 3 tests like this type looking at 3-4 weeks after approval from insurance. I need to have these done prior to pre-op appt and surgery of course. Then I was like wait there is only 1 mri and 1 CT. Now I am confused!

I call back the patient coordinator at the doctor office. She says oh yes we didn’t realize the Thoracic Spine MRI you brought in was 2017. Which means when I went to the hospital 6 months ago I was told they did lumbar and Thoracic but they only did lumbar. So now this means the last MRI was done almost 7 years ago and he said I needed this surgery from that. I have been working and doing all kinds of stuff in 7 years so it’s probably worse than we realized. So I will have to travel down to Sacramento again because they can do the mri’s(Cervical and Thoracic) and CT Scan all in one day.

I now am able to see the mri images I had taken to the doctor with me so I will be sharing with y’all soon.

They also talked about where the kids and hubby would stay and we will have a copay if you will too stay there. There is also not really a way to take food with us and eating out for all their meals is going to be insanely expensive. Plus we are trying to find things to do with the kids so they aren’t bored and worried just sitting. So we are revaluating what to do there! It’s looking like they will come down stay for 2 days to get me through surgery and then come home for a few days and back down. Not hugely cost effective and I will be staying by myself for long periods but we are looking in the 1000’s if they stay with me the whole time. At least if they go back and forth we can cut that in half. (I am debating a gofund me or something to help us with this small portion.)

We are also looking at Matt (Hubby) being out for unknown amount of work while traveling and taking care of the kids and I. I have called and talked to everybody I can and we can’t set up any kind of disability or paid family leave till after my surgery. So we are going to be in a weird holding till after and I have no idea how the paperwork will get done. Or what will be approved and not!

I am also trying to see if we can get in home support so I can have somebody help me and get paid to do so. But that’s another slow process to get through.

Tomorrow is my primary care appointment for release for surgery. Get lab work and EKG clearance. I am praying this doctor will do all of the above because I am not established with her. But they have cancelled my last several appointments for establishing and my next one is not till April 10. But these tests need to be done asap because if there is something wrong with the labs etc I need to start treatment.

Theres lots more but I am exhausted mentally and emotionally tonight! Hubby isnt on call so hoping we can watch a movie…

I will update again hopefully tomorrow and let you know if they do what I need!

Love you all…
